Reduced Salt Index and Seed Row Safety With Smart Nutrition™ MAP+MST®

Representatives from Nutrien Ag Solutions across Western Canada discuss why the reduced salt index of Smart Nutrition MAP+MST provides improved seed row safety compared to conventional sulfur fertilizer sources. Watch the video or read through the transcript below featuring Jordan Peterson, Twyla Jones, Nathan Trowell, Lane Blanke and Brianna Lummerding.

Jordan Peterson: “One of the biggest fertility issues that growers face in my region is applying the required amounts of fertilizer while staying within seed-safe rates.”

Twyla Jones: “Smart Nutrition MAP+MST is an excellent product to use for seed row safety.”

Nathan Trowell: “Smart Nutrition MAP+MST is a unique fertilizer formulation of nitrogen, phosphorus and elemental sulfur.”

Lane Blanke: “With the elemental sulfur portion of it it’s going to provide great seed safety, which is going to be nice for farmers.”

Brianna Lummerding: “It’s really that they are getting this micronized elemental as a component of their phosphorus, but that micronized elemental isn’t compromising the seed safety of the MAP component. It’s not decreasing it. So they’re still able to put on those seed safe rates of phosphorus fertilizer while adding that bump of micronized elemental to either supplement or complement additional sulfur that they are already doing.”

Nathan Trowell: “This is going to be a replacement for your traditional MAP in your seed row as a starter blend because it has the addition of the elemental sulfur and a low analysis of nitrogen. It’s an excellent seed starter product.”
